  • 0

This article will walk you through adding additional accounts to your Thunderbird client and transferring E-Mail between the two IMAP accounts. Hostking recommends using Mozilla Thunderbird to transfer your email between two IMAP accounts, but these steps can be used for any compatible IMAP client which supports multiple concurrent accounts.

Account Configuration

Adding Additional Accounts

  1. Click Tools > Account Settings... in the menu at the top of the window (at the top of the screen on a Mac)
    • TBaccountsettings.png
  2. Click Account Actions > Add Mail Account
  3. Enter Mail Information Name > "email@gmail.com" > Password, then click Continue. Thunderbird should automatically find your mail account settings.
    • TBaccountinfo.png
  4. Click Create Account. You will then be directed to the Account Settings page.

  5. Click OK

Transferring Mail Between Accounts

Copying Mail to Another IMAP account

  1. First, select the Mail account under the Inbox tab that you want to copy Mail from
  2. Then either select the individual/specific Mail (holding Command/Ctrl) or use the Edit > Select > All (Command/Ctrl +A) feature to highlight the mail you want copied
  3. Finally, Drag the selected Mail into the Inbox of the Mail account you want to copy mail into

Thunderbird will automatically copy all the selected and dragged mail into the new Inbox. This will allow you to access the transferred/copied mail in both Thunderbird and the Internet Client.
